I got this idea originally from Joe Pass' jazz guitar lesson video, he was explaining how to slide 7th chord up and down. Recently I was also transcribing Wes Montgomery's solo on No Blues, which he plays chord solo with a lot of tritone inside his voicing. It seems to me he's playing a lot of blues melody and lines with these type of chords and harmonic structures but not concerning too much of regular II--V-I type of ideas to make strong resolution, or maybe statement. It's like the band is playing II-V-I but he's playing blues on top of it a lot of times.
